New to Providence Baptist Church?

What should you expect on your first visit to Providence Baptist Church? You will discover a community of Christians who are committed to worshiping God, loving people, and serving in the city.

We are a community of people from all walks of life who believe in the transforming love of God in Jesus Christ. This means that you don’t have to dress a certain way or meet a certain “standard” before you participate in worship at Providence Baptist Church.

Becoming a Member of PBC

1. Membership Matters Class

We have a highly informative membership class that covers the church vision, statement of faith, church covenant, leadership style, worship philosophy, and many other areas. The class is offered approximately three times a year (fall, winter, and spring) as a four-week Sunday School class. Our hope is to help you understand Providence with greater depth and what is expected of you as a member.

2. Interview with Two Elders

The next step is to set up an interview with two elders. This is a great opportunity for the elders to get to know you, hear your testimony, and answer any remaining questions you may have about the church.

3. Written Testimony

Candidates for membership will write a brief personal testimony and answer a few other questions. This will then be published in the church newsletter for the members of Providence Baptist Church.

4. Church Affirmation

You will be asked to attend a members’ meeting where you will stand before the congregation and affirm your personal trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and the hope of eternal life. Afterward, the church will vote on receiving you as a new member of our church family!

What About My Kids?

For infants, we have a nursery provided near our worship area. However, all infants and children are more than welcome in our worship service. If you have pre-schoolers, we have a great children’s ministry led by a great team of teachers each week. Children are always welcome to remain in the worship service. As a precaution, all of our childcare workers have been screened and have completed a background check.
